Mohammed V Airport: 15 billion MAD for a one-of-a-kind terminal
The National Airports Office (ONDA) is set to commence construction on a groundbreaking new terminal at Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca, with an estimated investment of 15 billion dirhams. This project will introduce a unique terminal designed to function as a HUB, inspired by the waves of the Atlantic, and will follow an innovative "H" shape. The aim is to meet international HUB standards, including optimizing baggage handling time and jet bridge utilization.
The terminal, with a capacity of 20 million passengers annually, is scheduled for completion by 2029. This infrastructure overhaul in Morocco's airport sector is expected to support the anticipated growth in air traffic, particularly linked to Royal Air Maroc’s expansion program. The terminal will be connected to the high-speed rail line (LGV) from Kenitra to Marrakech, offering fast and efficient access to major cities across Morocco.
In line with the world's top airports, the new terminal will enhance transport intermodality and improve the passenger experience. The rail connection will significantly reduce travel time between Casablanca and key strategic hubs, facilitating both domestic and international travelers' access to the airport.
The development includes a 3,700-meter parallel runway, new aircraft parking, and a 42-meter high control tower, along with necessary aviation infrastructure. The terminal will be spread over three levels and feature green spaces, retail areas, a large Duty-Free zone, VIP lounges, and a hotel, all offering panoramic views of the runways.
Bidding for the terminal's construction will begin in the coming months, while land preparation work is already underway.
