World Bank backs Morocco’s FIFA 2030 World Cup preparations
The World Bank has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Morocco in its preparations for hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup. Ousmane Dione, the institution’s vice president for the Middle East and North Africa, made this declaration during a meeting on Wednesday with Fouzi Lekjaa, Morocco’s Minister Delegate in Charge of the Budget.
Dione emphasized the importance of transforming planned investments and infrastructure projects into concrete opportunities for job creation, economic expansion, and enhanced global competitiveness.
Highlighting the longstanding collaboration between Morocco and the World Bank, Dione pointed to a range of projects financed by the institution that have contributed to the country’s progress. He commended Morocco’s achievements in priority areas such as social protection, territorial development, and infrastructure, which he described as pivotal to the nation’s growth trajectory.
Lekjaa, in turn, underscored the role of structural reforms and sectoral strategies in driving Morocco’s economic development, positioning the country as a strong contender for hosting the prestigious global event.
