In a groundbreaking move to embrace the digital age and enhance the experience of pilgrims, the Saudi Ministry of Interior has launched a cutting-edge digital identity service for those arriving in the Kingdom on Hajj visas for the year 1445 AH.

Developed in collaboration with the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Hajj and Umrah, and the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority, the digital identity empowers pilgrims to electronically verify their identities through the "Absher" and "Tawakkalna" platforms, streamlining their journeys and enriching the quality of services provided during their sacred sojourn.

According to the Ministry of Interior, the introduction of this digital identity service aligns with the nation's efforts to drive digital transformation and harness technology for the benefit of its people. The initiative aims to elevate service standards to unprecedented heights while keeping pace with the digital evolution in service delivery during pilgrims' stays in the Kingdom.

In a parallel move, the Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Directorate of Passports, has unveiled a special stamp for beneficiaries of the "Road to Mecca" initiative, adorned with the initiative's distinctive visual identity. This commemorative stamp is being offered to pilgrims at designated lounges within eleven airports across seven participating countries, including Morocco.

Ensuring the safety and security of pilgrims remains a top priority for the Saudi authorities. In this vein, the Ministry of Interior has announced the enforcement of penalties for violations of Hajj regulations without a valid permit. Any individual, whether a citizen or resident, apprehended without a Hajj permit may face fines up to 10,000 Saudi Riyals.

As the Hajj season approaches, security authorities have intensified their vigilance to detect fraudulent announcements related to the pilgrimage, which could potentially mislead and defraud unsuspecting pilgrims. The Saudi Ministry of Interior has issued stern warnings against such deceptive announcements, tightening the noose on fraudsters and traffickers peddling illicit campaigns.

Citizens and residents have been urged to disregard false advertisements circulating on social media platforms, promising unauthorized Hajj services, sacrificial animal distribution, bracelet sales, transportation guarantees, and other deceptive offers aimed at defrauding individuals through fictitious personas and institutions. Authorities have affirmed that legal penalties will be imposed on those found culpable.

As Saudi Arabia embraces digital transformation and bolsters security measures, the introduction of the digital identity service for pilgrims marks a significant milestone in enhancing the Hajj experience. By leveraging technology and prioritizing the well-being of pilgrims, the Kingdom reaffirms its commitment to facilitating a seamless and secure spiritual journey for millions of faithful from around the globe.
