Ouarzazate: Five killed in road accident

Five people were killed and five others were injured, with varying degrees of severity, in a road accident that occurred on Saturday along National Road 23, near the village of Lahwant, in the commune of Ghassate, Ouarzazate province.

According to local authorities, the accident happened around 4 p.m. when a mixed transport vehicle carrying ten people, including the driver, overturned.

Upon receiving the alert, local authorities, the Royal Gendarmerie, and Civil Protection services rushed to the scene to provide assistance. The injured were transferred to the Sidi Hssain Bennaceur Provincial Hospital in Ouarzazate, while the bodies of the victims were taken to the morgue.

An investigation has been launched by the Royal Gendarmerie, under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office, to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
