AML Enhances Summer Transport as Marhaba 2024 Commences

Africa Morocco Link (AML) Unveils Expanded Ferry Service for Summer Travelers

In anticipation of the bustling summer travel season, Africa Morocco Link (AML) has unveiled an extensive strategy to accommodate the increased demand expected from the Marhaba 2024 operation. This initiative, organized by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, supports the Moroccan diaspora during their travels to and from Morocco.

AML's latest operational framework includes a new route specifically tailored to meet the needs of Moroccan travelers. The company has significantly bolstered its resources to manage the Tanger Med-Algeciras and Tanger Ville-Tarifa maritime routes, aiming to handle over 30,000 passengers and 7,000 vehicles daily.

This summer, the Tanger Ville-Tarifa route is being serviced by two vessels: the "Morocco Express 1" and the "Maria Dolores." Each vessel can accommodate 650 passengers and 70 vehicles, with the route offering approximately twenty daily departures. Meanwhile, the Tanger Med-Algeciras route features four vessels, including three conventional ships and one fast ferry. These ships have a capacity ranging from 750 to 1,200 passengers and can carry 200 to 400 vehicles per trip, ensuring 26 daily departures.

AML's collaboration with CTM-Stena Line marks a significant milestone, aiming to enhance Morocco's maritime capabilities and strengthen its position in passenger and freight transport. As part of the Marhaba 2024 operation, AML's shareholders have introduced a comprehensive action plan, which includes fleet modernization, the launch of new medium and long-distance routes, and improvements in customer service initiatives. These initiatives encompass pricing strategies, digitalization, onboard amenities, and operational efficiency enhancements.

In a move to further develop maritime expertise within Morocco, AML has partnered with the Higher Institute of Maritime Studies (ISEM). This partnership, which includes a donation of MAD 3 million ($305 million), aims to nurture local talent and support the growth of Morocco's maritime sector.

AML's robust preparations for the Marhaba 2024 operation underscore its commitment to providing reliable and efficient transport solutions for summer travelers, reinforcing its role in facilitating seamless journeys for the Moroccan diaspora.
