Crédit du Maroc completes successful capital increase with strong investor demand
Crédit du Maroc (CDM) has successfully completed its capital increase, with investor demand exceeding the number of shares offered, highlighting continued confidence in the Moroccan banking group's growth strategy.
The capital raising, conducted through a cash contribution reserved for existing shareholders and holders of pre-emptive subscription rights (DPS), followed the prospectus approved by the Moroccan Capital Market Authority (AMMC) on June 12.
According to the bank, subscription requests totaled nearly MAD 884.6 million, corresponding to demand for 943,061 new shares.
Following the allocation process, CDM issued 745,285 new shares, representing approximately MAD 700 million in new capital.
The operation achieved a 127% subscription rate, meaning investor demand exceeded the number of shares available by more than a quarter. Such oversubscription is generally viewed as a positive signal of market confidence and strong shareholder participation.
The bank also reported that subscriptions through the irrevocable preferential subscription rights mechanism accounted for 95.3% of the transaction, reflecting substantial support from existing shareholders exercising their rights to maintain their ownership stakes.
The successful completion of the capital increase strengthens Crédit du Maroc's capital base and provides additional financial resources to support its strategic development plans in Morocco's banking sector.
Capital increases are commonly used by financial institutions to reinforce regulatory capital, finance business expansion, strengthen lending capacity and support long-term investment objectives while maintaining compliance with prudential requirements.
The transaction represents another notable financing operation in Morocco's capital markets, demonstrating sustained investor appetite for established banking institutions despite a challenging global economic environment.
