One battle after another dominates the golden globes

The film One Battle After Another emerged as the big winner at the Golden Globes ceremony on Sunday night, taking home four major awards and strengthening its position as a frontrunner for the upcoming Academy Awards.

Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, the film won the Golden Globe for Best Musical or Comedy, as well as Best Screenplay and Best Director. Actress Teyana Taylor was also honored with the award for Best Supporting Actress, praised for her intense and politically charged performance.

Widely acclaimed for its sharp portrayal of contemporary divisions in the United States, the film blends satire and drama to explore the pursuit of former far-left activists by a white supremacist figure. During his acceptance speech, Anderson thanked the industry for its support, describing filmmaking as a passion-driven craft.

Despite being the film’s leading actor, Leonardo DiCaprio did not secure the Best Actor in a Comedy award, which went to Timothée Chalamet for his role in Marty Supreme. Chalamet expressed gratitude for being recognized in a highly competitive category.

Elsewhere at the ceremony, Hamnet claimed the Golden Globe for Best Drama, while Jessie Buckley won Best Actress for her portrayal of Agnes Shakespeare. The Brazilian film The Secret Agent also stood out internationally, earning awards for Best International Film and Best Actor for Wagner Moura.

The evening reflected a strong political undertone, with several winners using their speeches to address themes of memory, justice, and social responsibility.
