Trump unveils TrumpRx platform to lower prescription drug costs

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has announced the launch of a new online platform, TrumpRx, presented as an initiative aimed at helping Americans access prescription medications at reduced prices. The unveiling took place during an event in Washington, where the project was described as part of a broader effort to address rising health care costs.

According to information shared at the launch, the website lists several dozen commonly prescribed medications offered at discounted cash prices. The platform directs users to participating pharmacies or manufacturers through coupon codes, targeting patients who pay out of pocket rather than through insurance plans.

Trump highlighted the role of international price comparisons in making the discounts possible, arguing that Americans should not pay more for medicines than consumers in other countries. Health officials involved in the presentation said the platform is designed to improve price transparency and simplify access to existing discount programs.

Health policy experts have noted that similar discount services already exist, but say TrumpRx may offer convenience by centralizing information in one place. However, they also caution that the current selection of medications remains limited and that savings will vary depending on individual circumstances.

The launch comes at a time when public concern over health care affordability remains high in the United States. Recent surveys show that many Americans worry about their ability to pay for medical care, particularly as insurance premiums and out-of-pocket expenses continue to rise.
