CIH Bank warns of fraud following scam targeting customer

CIH Bank has issued a warning after a viral video surfaced in which a customer claimed she had been defrauded. The bank clarified that the incident was linked to a scam, in which the customer voluntarily shared her banking information with fraudsters.

According to CIH, the victim had been contacted by individuals promising assistance to obtain a European visa. She was persuaded to open a bank account, deposit funds, and provide confidential details, including her personal security codes.

The scammers then installed the banking application on their own devices and used the security codes sent to the victim’s phone to carry out multiple financial transactions, including phone top-ups.

CIH stressed the importance of never sharing banking information with third parties under any circumstances, emphasizing that its systems are secure. The bank also confirmed that it is supporting the customer with legal assistance and coordinating with authorities to investigate the fraud and identify those responsible.
