Morocco's ONMT restructures to enhance tourism appeal

The Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) has announced a significant structural reorganization aimed at boosting Morocco's global tourism appeal. This initiative is part of the office's ongoing strategy to attract 26 million tourists by 2030.

In a recent statement, ONMT revealed that the reorganization will introduce three new divisions focused on commercial, marketing, and resource support. "With efficiency as our objective, this new organization is designed to strengthen our actions and better respond to the expectations of the global tourism market," said Achraf Fayda, the Director General of ONMT.

Fayda emphasized that the new measures reflect a clear intention to streamline processes, clarify roles, and enhance synergy among departments to tackle the challenges of a rapidly evolving sector. The reorganization also aims to leverage ONMT's expertise and workforce effectively.

This announcement comes on the heels of promising developments for summer 2025, as ONMT has launched numerous point-to-point flight routes connecting Moroccan cities directly to international destinations. Furthermore, the office has initiated a major roadshow to promote Morocco as a premier destination for North American travel professionals.

In 2024, Morocco's tourism sector achieved remarkable success, welcoming over 17 million visitors, surpassing the target set for 2026. The Moroccan government has committed over one billion euros in public tourism investments over the next decade, excluding private sector contributions. "Morocco is transforming six cities hosting the 2030 World Cup, with half a billion euros allocated to each," Fayda noted earlier this month.

With these strategic initiatives, Morocco is poised to enhance its stature as a leading tourist destination, paving the way for a vibrant future in tourism.
