Moroccan Pharmacists’ unions distance themselves from Rabat Sit-In

Three major Moroccan pharmacists’ unions have publicly distanced themselves from a recent sit-in held in Rabat, criticizing what they described as a “minority” group that lacks legitimacy and spreads confusion.

In a joint statement, the National Federation of Pharmacists’ Unions of Morocco, the National Federation of Community Pharmacists’ Unions, and the National Union of Pharmacists of Morocco emphasized their disagreement with the protest organized on September 9, 2025, by the Confederation of Moroccan Pharmacists’ Unions in front of the Ministry of Health headquarters.

According to these unions, the demonstration attracted roughly 160 participants out of the approximately 14,000 pharmacists in the country, indicating limited representativeness. They highlighted that ongoing meetings with the Ministry of Health have taken place in a constructive framework, aiming to implement sectoral reforms through appropriate legal and technical mechanisms.

The unions also criticized what they consider “misinformation” circulated by the minority organization, which represents only three out of 67 unions nationwide. They reaffirmed their commitment to a responsible approach, collaborating closely with the Ministry of Health, and insisted that any attempts to disrupt this process would not deter them from defending the profession’s interests and preserving its achievements.
