Turkish Airlines resumes flights to Tehran

Turkish Airlines has resumed flights to Tehran after a temporary suspension that had been in place since the previous week, marking a cautious return of air links between Turkey and Iran amid ongoing regional tensions.

According to airport and airline information, at least one flight departed from Istanbul to the Iranian capital on Thursday morning, with another scheduled later the same day. Some additional flights, however, were reported as canceled, reflecting a gradual and selective restoration of services.

Turkey, which shares a long land border with Iran, has adopted a notably reserved stance regarding the unrest unfolding in its neighboring country. While Ankara continues to restrict public demonstrations in support of Iranian protesters, it has avoided direct criticism of Tehran’s authorities.

Turkish officials have previously warned against what they describe as foreign interference in Iran’s internal affairs, arguing that protests, though rooted in domestic challenges, may be influenced by external actors. The resumption of flights highlights Turkey’s intent to maintain essential connectivity and diplomatic balance with Iran despite the volatile situation.
