Turkish Airlines unveils a new 100 billion lira investment strategy
Turkish Airlines has announced a major investment initiative aimed at strengthening Türkiye’s aviation infrastructure and reinforcing the carrier’s global competitiveness. The strategy, aligned with the airline’s long-term Vision 2033, represents a total investment exceeding 100 billion Turkish lira.
The program includes the launch of eight large-scale infrastructure projects, most of which will be located at Istanbul Airport, the national carrier’s main operational hub. Groundbreaking ceremonies for the new facilities were held in the presence of senior government officials, airline executives, and key representatives of Türkiye’s aviation sector.
According to Turkish authorities, these investments are expected to significantly enhance the country’s position in global air transport. The projects cover strategic areas such as air cargo, aircraft maintenance, catering services, digital infrastructure, and logistics solutions. One of the flagship developments is the expansion of the SmartIST air cargo terminal, which is set to substantially increase freight handling capacity and strengthen Turkish Airlines’ cargo operations on a global scale.
Company executives emphasized that the investment plan goes beyond fleet expansion and focuses on building robust, future-ready infrastructure. The initiative is also expected to generate tens of thousands of new jobs, contributing to economic growth and reinforcing Türkiye’s role as a major international aviation hub.
With this ambitious program, Turkish Airlines aims to support sustainable growth, improve operational efficiency, and position itself among the world’s leading airlines as it approaches its centenary.
