Trump Unconcerned About Car Price Increases Due to Tariffs

U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Saturday that he was not concerned if car manufacturers raised prices in response to new tariffs on foreign-made vehicles. Speaking with NBC News, Trump expressed that he "couldn't care less" about the potential price hikes.

The White House has been preparing to implement tariffs on a variety of consumer goods starting April 2, a move that has sparked criticism from global leaders and raised concerns over possible price increases for consumers. Trump emphasized that the new tariffs on foreign cars would benefit U.S.-based manufacturers, asserting that it would result in higher sales for American-made vehicles. "I hope they raise their prices, because if they do, people are gonna buy American-made cars," Trump commented.

Trump also stated that he would only be open to negotiating the tariffs if other nations were willing to offer substantial concessions in return. These tariffs are part of Trump's broader strategy to boost American manufacturing and reduce the U.S. trade deficit. His trade policies, particularly regarding international relations, have remained a prominent aspect of his administration.
