Aerospace exports surge by 14.2% in January

Aerospace exports in Morocco reached nearly 2.24 billion dirhams (MMDH) by the end of January 2025, marking a 14.2% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Office des Changes.

This growth is attributed to a 16.2% rise in sales in the Assembly segment, totaling 1.42 billion dirhams, and an 11.2% increase in the Electrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS) segment, amounting to 808 million dirhams. These figures were outlined in the Office des Changes' latest monthly report on foreign trade indicators.

However, the report also revealed a decline in phosphate and derivative exports, which fell by 10.7% to 5.63 billion dirhams. This total includes 4.27 billion dirhams from natural and chemical fertilizers, 920 million dirhams from phosphoric acid, and 442 million dirhams from raw phosphates.

Meanwhile, automotive exports experienced a 10.9% drop, amounting to 10.28 billion dirhams. This decrease was driven by a reduction in sales in the construction segment (-1.54 billion dirhams) and the exterior segment (-51 million dirhams), partially offset by a 121 million dirham increase in wiring sales.

Additionally, exports in the "agriculture and agri-food" and "electronics and electricity" sectors declined by 2.3% (to 8.69 billion dirhams) and 9.1% (to 1.42 billion dirhams), respectively. Conversely, the "textile and leather" sector showed resilience, posting a 5% increase to 3.75 billion dirhams.
