Strengthening digital cooperation between Rabat and Washington

A recent meeting in Washington, D.C., between Morocco's Minister Delegate for Digital Transition, Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, and U.S. officials marked a significant step in enhancing the Morocco-U.S. partnership in digital transition and technological innovation. The discussions, which took place on March 17, 2025, aimed to invigorate collaboration in these critical areas.

Minister Seghrouchni, accompanied by Morocco's Ambassador to the United States, Youssef Amrani, engaged in talks at the U.S. State Department with Ambassador Steve Lang, who oversees cyberspace and digital policy. This meeting underscored the robust and multifaceted strategic partnership between Morocco and the United States while exploring avenues to advance cooperation in digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI) — fields with substantial potential for sustainable development.

The conversations revealed promising prospects for both nations in high-value sectors. Minister Seghrouchni's subsequent meeting with Leila Elmergawi, Director of Global Strategy and Policy for AI, further emphasized Morocco's commitment to its "Digital Morocco 2030" strategy. The meetings reviewed key components of this strategy and discussed bilateral cooperation in digital economy and cybersecurity.

These discussions reaffirmed both countries' dedication to fostering AI development and digital transformation, paving the way for a prosperous future.
