In a significant diplomatic development, Denmark has officially endorsed Morocco's autonomy plan for the Sahara region. This support, expressed during high-level talks in New York, marks a pivotal moment in the longstanding territorial dispute and signals a potential shift in Scandinavian-Moroccan relations.

The announcement came during discussions between the Moroccan and Danish Foreign Ministers on the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly. The Danish government's backing of the 2007 Moroccan autonomy proposal has been hailed as a "triumph for the voice of justice" by Mohamed Tanji, coordinator of the "Region 13" within The National Rally of Independents ( RNI ) in Copenhagen.

Tanji, speaking exclusively to 'Walaw' newspaper, emphasized that this endorsement "represents a solid foundation capable of elevating trust in the bilateral relations between the Danish and Moroccan kingdoms." The move is seen as a recognition of Morocco's "serious and credible contribution" to the UN-led process aimed at finding a mutually acceptable solution to the Sahara issue.

The National Rally of Independents Party's coordination in Scandinavia expressed jubilation over Denmark's decision. They view this support as a fresh achievement of Morocco's pioneering diplomacy, spearheaded by King Mohammed VI. The party's representatives believe this diplomatic success will encourage more European countries and nations worldwide to acknowledge the legitimacy of Morocco's position on the Sahara.

This development is particularly noteworthy as it represents a growing trend of international support for Morocco's autonomy plan. The Danish endorsement is expected to have ripple effects across Scandinavian and European diplomatic circles, potentially influencing the stance of other nations on this complex regional issue.

As the international community continues to seek a resolution to the Sahara question, Denmark's backing of Morocco's autonomy proposal adds a new dimension to the ongoing diplomatic efforts. This support not only strengthens Morocco's position but also opens new avenues for enhanced cooperation between Morocco and Scandinavian countries in various fields.

The evolving situation underscores the importance of diplomatic initiatives in resolving longstanding territorial disputes. As more countries align with Morocco's vision for the Sahara, the prospect of a peaceful and mutually acceptable solution appears increasingly tangible, promising a new era of stability and cooperation in North Africa.
