United States denies visas to Palestinian officials ahead of UN general assembly
The United States announced on Friday that it will deny visas to members of the Palestinian Authority ahead of the United Nations General Assembly scheduled for September, where France plans to advocate for the recognition of a Palestinian state.
“The Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, revokes and denies visas for members of the Palestine Liberation Organization and the Palestinian Authority ahead of the upcoming United Nations General Assembly,” the State Department said in a statement.
The move comes amid ongoing tensions in US-Palestinian relations and could affect diplomatic discussions at the international forum. The UN General Assembly is expected to see a series of debates on state recognition, human rights, and regional stability.
