UM6P Hosts Africa's First Paris Peace Forum: A Historic Milestone for Morocco

The University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (UM6P) in Morocco is making history by hosting the first-ever Paris Peace Forum Spring Meeting in Africa. This prestigious event, usually held in Paris, will take place on June 10 in Benguerir, marking a significant milestone in the forum's history. 

Justin Vaisse, Director General of the Paris Peace Forum, expressed his enthusiasm for the event's move to Africa. He noted that it reflects the forum's commitment to fostering dialogue between the global North and South. "This Spring meeting underscores our commitment to fostering North-South dialogue and cooperation to tackle the greatest challenges of our time. We are delighted to partner with UM6P for this endeavor," Vaisse remarked.

Hicham El Habti, President of UM6P, highlighted the university's eagerness to contribute to the event's success, aiming to produce "concrete solutions for our countries and societies." El Habti emphasized that this historic gathering would allow UM6P to showcase its dedication to promoting constructive dialogue and building a resilient future for all.

This inaugural event in Africa is expected to attract a diverse range of influential stakeholders from across the globe, including government officials, international organization representatives, and experts from various fields. Against the backdrop of increasing geopolitical tensions and environmental crises, the forum aims to address pressing issues through equitable and sustainable solutions.

The program will feature live-streamed sessions with renowned experts, along with closed-door meetings that will explore critical topics such as climate finance, energy and agriculture transitions, nutrition, and global health equity. The Paris Peace Forum and UM6P are also collaborating with the Mo Ibrahim Foundation to organize select sessions during this landmark event.

UM6P's Benguerir campus, a modern and technologically advanced facility, will serve as the ideal location for this groundbreaking event, reinforcing Morocco's growing role in fostering global cooperation and meaningful dialogue.
