Turkish films shine at Cairo International Film Festival
Cairo, Egypt – Turkish cinema was celebrated at the 46th Cairo International Film Festival, where two Turkish films took home prestigious awards, highlighting Türkiye’s growing influence in the global film industry.
Under the theme “Turkish Spotlight,” Türkiye presented several films, including Kanto, Bildiğin Gibi Değil, and its Oscar entry Hemme’nin Öldüğü Günlerden Biri. In the International Best Film category, Aldığımız Nefes and Öldürdüğümüz Şeyler competed, while Dilan Hakkında Konuşmalıyız was featured in the short film section.
The International Feature Film Jury was chaired by renowned Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan. Out of 150 films showcased from around the world, Öldürdüğümüz Şeyler won the Naguib Mahfouz Award for Best Screenplay, and Aldığımız Nefes received the Bronze Pyramid Award.
Türkiye’s Ambassador to Cairo, Salih Mutlu Şen, expressed pride in the country’s strong cinematic presence and congratulated the filmmakers, screenwriters, and producers, thanking festival organizers for their hospitality.
