Transfer Market: Yassine Gessime joins racing Strasbourg until 2030

Racing Club de Strasbourg has officially announced the signing of Moroccan U20 international winger Yassine Gessimefrom USL Dunkerque, securing the promising player on a long-term contract running until 2030.

The 20-year-old winger, developed in southern France, previously played for Istres and Marignane before making his breakthrough in Ligue 2 with Dunkerque in early 2024. Over the past season, Gessime established himself as a key attacking figure, contributing significantly to Dunkerque’s impressive campaign, which included a fourth-place league finish and a Coupe de France semi-final appearance.

Statistically, Gessime stood out as one of the most creative players in Ligue 2. With six assists, he currently leads the league’s assist rankings, underlining both his consistency and influence in the final third.

On the international stage, Gessime is regarded as one of the rising talents of Moroccan football. A regular starter for the Morocco U20 national team, he played a crucial role in the U20 World Cup in Chile, which the Atlas Cubs won. During the tournament, he scored two goals and provided three assists, drawing attention from several European clubs.

The move to Strasbourg marks a major step forward in Gessime’s career, as he prepares to discover Ligue 1 football. French media have widely suggested that his performances had made Ligue 2 “too small” for the young Moroccan winger. The transfer fee is reported to be around €7 million, reflecting Strasbourg’s confidence in his long-term potential.
