Ian is on high alert for potential Israeli strikes targeting its nuclear facilities, following a significant missile assault authorized by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. This attack was a direct response to Israel's recent actions against Hezbollah, the militant group supported by Tehran, particularly after the assassination of its leader, Hassan Nasrallah.

In his first public appearance since the missile launch, Khamenei addressed students and scientists, expressing that while Iran mourns Nasrallah's death, it will not succumb to despair. He emphasized that the missile strikes were necessary to restore deterrence and affirm Iran's sovereignty. The Iranian leadership has rallied around this military action, framing it as both effective and justified.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi engaged in diplomatic discussions with European counterparts, asserting that Iran does not seek to escalate tensions further. He clarified that Iran's military operations have been strictly targeted at military sites, contrasting them with Israel's broader assaults in Lebanon. Araghchi also mentioned that while there had been no direct warnings to the U.S., necessary communications were made through the Swiss embassy in Tehran after the missile launch.

Iran's Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh urged European nations to restrain Israel, warning that failure to do so could lead to a significant regional conflict. As Iran prepares for possible Israeli retaliation, Maj. Gen. Mohammad Bagheri confirmed that the missile strikes targeted key Israeli military installations, including airbases housing advanced aircraft.

The Iranian leadership displayed enthusiasm during the attack, with footage showing members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Council reacting positively as missiles struck their targets. However, analysts caution that Iran’s air defense capabilities are limited, raising concerns about its vulnerability to Israeli counterstrikes.

In light of these developments, Javad Zarif, Iran’s strategic minister, condemned Western hypocrisy regarding Israel's actions in Gaza and reiterated Iran's right to self-defense against ongoing aggressions. The Iranian regime is acutely aware of internal dissent and is monitoring public sentiment closely as it navigates this precarious situation.

As tensions escalate in the region, observers note that any further Israeli military action could provoke a severe response from Iran, potentially igniting a broader conflict. The situation remains fluid as both nations prepare for possible escalations in hostilities.
