Syrian president thanks Trump for “Precious” perfume gift

Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa publicly thanked former U.S. president Donald Trump after receiving a luxury perfume gift sent to Damascus following their recent diplomatic meeting.

In a message shared on social media, the Syrian leader humorously referred to the encounter with Trump, writing that some meetings “leave an aroma.” He also expressed gratitude for what he described as a “precious gift” and voiced hope for stronger relations between Syria and the United States.

The gift reportedly included bottles of the fragrance “Trump Victory,” a product associated with the American president’s personal brand. The exchange has attracted widespread media attention due to the unusual nature of the diplomatic gesture and the symbolic improvement in relations between Washington and Damascus.

The meeting between the two leaders marked a historic moment, as Ahmad al-Sharaa became one of the first Syrian heads of state in decades to be officially welcomed in Washington. During the visit, videos circulating online showed Trump presenting perfume bottles to the Syrian president and Foreign Minister Assaad al-Shaibani in a light-hearted atmosphere.

Relations between the United States and Syria have shifted significantly since the political transition that followed the removal of former Syrian president Bashar al-Assad in 2024. Since then, Syria’s new authorities have worked to restore diplomatic communication with Western countries.

The Trump administration recently eased several sanctions previously imposed on Syria, opening the door to broader economic and political cooperation. Analysts believe the public exchange of gifts and friendly remarks is intended to reinforce the image of improving bilateral relations after years of tension and isolation.

Observers across the Middle East continue to monitor how the renewed dialogue between Damascus and Washington may influence regional politics and future diplomatic partnerships.
