The Spanish Ambassador to Morocco, Enrique Ojeda Vila, underscored the significance of the relationship between Spain and Morocco, highlighting a new chapter in their bilateral ties, initiated by a letter from Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez to His Majesty King Mohammed VI. This statement was made during a reception held in Rabat to celebrate Spain's National Day.

Since assuming office in February, Ambassador Enrique Ojeda Vila, accompanied by Spanish Minister of Finance María Jesús Montero, attended the event alongside several Moroccan government officials, prominent figures, and representatives from the Spanish community in Morocco.

In his address, the ambassador reflected on the evolution of relations between the two countries and emphasized the pivotal roles of Kings Mohammed VI and Felipe VI in strengthening these connections. He referenced a historic meeting between King Mohammed VI and Prime Minister Sánchez during Ramadan, considering it the beginning of a new phase in bilateral relations.

Ambassador Enrique Ojeda Vila also highlighted various positive aspects of the neighborly relationship, including increased Spanish investments in Morocco and the contributions of the Moroccan community in Spain to development. He noted the Spanish community’s efforts in Morocco to further enhance investments across multiple sectors.

Minister Montero reaffirmed the official government stance on these relations, describing them as "built on solid rock and cement," capable of withstanding any potential challenges. She acknowledged Prime Minister Sánchez’s role in fostering this rapprochement.

The discussions also touched on the organization of the World Cup, which Spanish officials view as a significant milestone symbolizing strong relations between the three countries involved. They expressed a firm commitment to ensuring the success of this global sporting event through cross-continental collaboration.

In another context, Ambassador Enrique Ojeda Vila reiterated Spain’s unwavering support for Morocco's territorial integrity, noting that Spain was one of the first countries to declare such support. He also expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people amidst ongoing aggression, reaffirming Spain's formal recognition of a Palestinian state, without conditions or restrictions.
