Strengthening Morocco-GCC Ties: Unwavering Support for Moroccan Sahara
As part of strengthening bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Mr. Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad, today received in Rabat the Secretary-General of the GCC, Mr. Jasem Mohamed Al-Budaiwi. This visit comes at a key moment, with discussions focused on the Council's firm support for the issue of the Moroccan Sahara and on strengthening the strategic partnership between the two parties.
During this meeting, Mr. Jasem Al-Budaiwi reaffirmed the unwavering position of the GCC Council of Ministers on the issue of Morocco's sovereignty over the Sahara, emphasizing the importance of the Kingdom's territorial integrity within the framework of international resolutions. This consistently renewed support aligns with Morocco's ongoing diplomatic efforts at the international level to defend its interests.
The discussions between the two officials also covered ways to strengthen strategic cooperation in key areas such as the economy, energy, and the environment. The goal is to develop bilateral relations by leveraging common opportunities that will contribute to sustainable development in the region.
This visit by the Secretary-General of the GCC reflects the strong historical, economic, and cultural ties between Morocco and the Gulf countries. It also marks a reaffirmation of shared positions on regional and global issues, including the fight against terrorism and strengthening stability in the Arab world.
