Sap and Smart Africa formalize partnership to accelerate digital transformation
SAP has formalized a strategic partnership with Smart Africa during GITEX Africa 2026 in Marrakech, joining a coalition of African countries, international institutions, and private sector actors working to advance the continent’s digital agenda.
The agreement was signed during official sessions at the event, with a focus on supporting long-term digital growth across Africa. The collaboration centers on integrating enterprise applications, data systems, and artificial intelligence to improve how organizations manage operations.
SAP said the approach will help institutions anticipate disruptions, strengthen resilience, and make faster decisions based on reliable data, particularly in supply chain management where accuracy remains critical.
Within the partnership framework, the company plans to deploy data-driven strategies that combine business applications with AI tools. This integration aims to enhance operational performance and support more efficient decision-making across sectors.
Hicham Iraqi Houssaini said the initiative reflects a cooperative model that brings together public and private stakeholders to support ongoing transformation efforts across the continent.
SAP’s involvement will focus on sectors considered essential to economic development, including healthcare, infrastructure, and education. The company said its technologies will improve traceability, increase operational visibility, and modernize management systems while strengthening the role of data in decision-making.
Alongside its technology deployment, SAP is expanding talent development efforts through its Young Professionals Program in Francophone Africa. The initiative provides training in business processes, SAP certification, data analysis, and artificial intelligence to prepare a workforce aligned with market needs.
The company said the program aims to build a pipeline of skilled professionals capable of supporting organizations adapting to a rapidly evolving digital economy.
The partnership announcement came as GITEX Africa 2026 concluded with a series of agreements and initiatives reflecting the continent’s accelerating digital transformation and growing interest from global technology companies.
