Royal Air Maroc Resumes Direct Flights to Brazil After Five-Year Hiatus
The relaunch of a direct air route between Casablanca and São Paulo signifies a milestone for tourism and economic ties, while supporting Morocco's 2030 FIFA World Cup ambitions.
Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has officially reinstated its direct flights between Casablanca and São Paulo, ending a five-year interruption brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. The service restoration was initially announced in June and culminated yesterday with the inaugural flight's arrival at São Paulo’s Guarulhos International Airport.
The first flight, operated by a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, was warmly received by Brazilian officials and tourism industry representatives. The plane's arrival was marked by a traditional water salute, symbolizing the importance of this air route in bolstering travel and business relations between Morocco and Brazil.
The reinstated service will operate three times weekly. Flights from Casablanca are scheduled for Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, departing at 4:45 p.m. and arriving in São Paulo at 10:20 p.m. local time. Return flights will leave São Paulo at 12:25 a.m. on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, arriving in Casablanca at 1:15 p.m. The route will be serviced by RAM’s fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliners, known for their modern features, enhanced passenger comfort, and eco-friendly design.
This renewed air connection is a strategic step for Morocco, particularly as it prepares to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup with Spain and Portugal. Brazilian football enthusiasts will benefit from this convenient link to the host cities, fostering greater fan engagement during the event.
Beyond tourism, the route's resumption underscores Morocco's broader aim to strengthen economic and cultural ties with Brazil. As the national carrier resumes operations on this vital corridor, RAM is poised to play an instrumental role in facilitating mutual growth and collaboration between the two nations.
This development not only reinforces Morocco’s position as a global hub for travel and business but also serves as a testament to its commitment to fostering international partnerships.
