Vodafone Business and Maroc Telecom join forces to enhance digital solutions

In a significant move towards digital transformation, Vodafone Business and Maroc Telecom have announced a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at delivering advanced connectivity services and digital solutions to businesses across Morocco. This partnership, formalized on Thursday, will initially focus on smart city technologies and energy management systems, enhancing efficiency and supporting the nation’s ambitious digital goals.

This strategic alliance not only fortifies Vodafone’s footprint in Africa—where it operates in eight countries through Vodacom—but also aligns with Morocco’s vision of becoming a prominent digital hub by 2030. The collaboration is set to expand over time, encompassing a comprehensive suite of business products and services, including software-defined wide area networks (SD-WAN), private mobile networks, cloud solutions, and cybersecurity.

A spokesperson for Vodafone remarked, “The new partnership leverages international technological infrastructure developed by Vodafone Business alongside Maroc Telecom’s territorial anchoring and deep knowledge of the local economic fabric.” This synergy allows clients to tailor Vodafone Business connectivity services and digital platforms to their specific needs while adhering to the regulatory framework in Morocco.

Moreover, the two operators are committed to addressing the requirements of Maroc Telecom’s multinational and regional clientele in critical sectors such as logistics, manufacturing, retail, and public services. They will offer a unified portfolio of managed services that can be rapidly deployed across various markets, ensuring a seamless experience for users.

Comprehensive pre-sales and after-sales services, including billing, implementation, and management, will be provided to clients, underscoring the collaborative effort to enhance customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

This partnership comes at a pivotal time as Morocco prepares to launch 5G technology in November, in conjunction with the upcoming African Cup of Nations. According to the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT), the nation aims to provide 5G access to 25% of its population by the end of 2025, with plans to expand coverage to 70% by 2030.

In a related development, Maroc Telecom and Inwi have also established two joint ventures—FiberCo, which aims to install one million fiber optic connections within two years, and TowerCo, set to build 2,000 telecommunications towers by 2028. This investment program, estimated at MAD 4.4 billion (approximately $440 million), is designed to optimize costs and accelerate national coverage through shared infrastructure.
