Royal Air Maroc Launches Direct Casablanca–Essaouira Flights on November 1, 2026

Royal Air Maroc Launches Direct Casablanca–Essaouira Flights on November 1, 2026

Royal Air Maroc (RAM) will introduce a direct air connection between Casablanca and Essaouira on November 1, 2026, expanding its domestic network and improving access to one of Morocco’s leading Atlantic coastal destinations.

The new service, established under an agreement with the Marrakech-Safi region, will operate twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays. The initiative aims to facilitate domestic travel, support tourism businesses and strengthen economic links between Casablanca and Essaouira.

Two weekly flights to connect Morocco’s Atlantic coast

The new route will provide travellers with a direct connection between Casablanca, the Kingdom’s main commercial hub, and Essaouira, a destination known for its historic medina, coastal landscape and cultural heritage.

Hamid Addou, chairman and chief executive officer of Royal Air Maroc, said the service reflects the airline’s commitment to promoting Moroccan tourism internationally while making travel between the country’s regions more accessible.

He added that the connection is intended to meet the needs of tourists, families and business travellers while supporting the development of local tourism.

The route also responds to requests from economic and tourism operators in Essaouira, who stand to benefit from improved access to the city and stronger links with national and international markets.

Fixed fares for economy and business class

RAM is introducing fixed round-trip fares designed to make the route accessible to a broader range of passengers.

  • Economy class: MAD 800 for a round trip.

  • Business class: MAD 1,600 for a round trip.

Tickets are available through the airline’s official website, call centres, commercial offices and partner travel agencies.

Casablanca hub opens access to 86 international destinations

Beyond the direct domestic connection, the new route will link Essaouira to Royal Air Maroc’s wider international network through its Casablanca hub, which serves 86 international destinations, according to the airline’s announcement.

This connectivity could make travel to Essaouira more convenient for international visitors, particularly those connecting through Casablanca rather than arranging separate domestic transport.

The coastal city has several attractions for the tourism sector, including its natural surroundings, cultural identity and historic medina, which has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001.

Improved air access is expected to support the efforts of local tourism operators to attract visitors and extend the destination’s reach beyond established domestic markets.

Flight schedules: Casablanca–Essaouira

The service will operate twice weekly, with the following departure and arrival times provided by Royal Air Maroc.

Day Departure from Casablanca Arrival in Essaouira
Wednesday 4:00 p.m. 5:20 p.m.
Sunday 8:20 a.m. 9:40 a.m.

Return flights: Essaouira–Casablanca

Day Departure from Essaouira Arrival in Casablanca
Wednesday 6:00 p.m. 7:20 p.m.
Sunday 10:20 a.m. 11:40 a.m.

All times are local. The airline’s published schedule should be consulted when booking.

A wider effort to improve regional connectivity

The Casablanca–Essaouira service forms part of a broader effort to strengthen Morocco’s domestic air links and improve access to destinations outside the country’s main metropolitan centres.

By connecting regional cities more directly to Casablanca, Royal Air Maroc aims to facilitate passenger movement, support tourism activity and improve the integration of local economies into national and international travel networks.

For Essaouira, the new route offers an additional transport option for visitors and professionals, while giving international travellers a more direct pathway to the city through RAM’s Casablanca hub.
