In an extraordinary display of global interest, Paris welcomed approximately 1.73 million tourists from July 26 to August 2, coinciding with the opening week of the 2024 Summer Olympics. This remarkable influx represents an 18.9% increase from the previous year, according to the Paris Tourism Weekly Barometer.

The peak day for arrivals was Thursday, July 25, just before the Olympic opening ceremony, with 29,000 travelers arriving in the city. Parisian airports were bustling, handling 100,000 passengers from July 24 to July 27 a 33% increase from 2023 figures.

Of the total visitors, 924,000 were international tourists, marking a 13.9% rise, while French tourists accounted for 803,000, a significant increase of 25.1% compared to the previous year. The anticipated upswing aligns with broader forecasts predicting an 8.5% growth in international arrivals between the Olympics and the Paralympics.

The United States led in foreign visitors, contributing 14.7% with 136,000 tourists. Other top countries included Germany with 6.6% (61,000 tourists), Brazil at 5.5% (51,000 tourists), Great Britain at 5.1% (47,000 tourists), and Spain at 3.1% (28,000 tourists).

This surge underscores Paris's enduring allure and the global enthusiasm for the Olympic Games, setting a vibrant stage for the events to come.
