Pakistani Taliban claim attacks killing 23 in the Country’s northwest
The Pakistani Taliban (TTP) claimed responsibility on Saturday for a series of deadly attacks that killed 23 people in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, near the Afghan border.
According to security officials, the assaults were carried out on Friday, targeting law enforcement and paramilitary forces.
A suicide bombing struck a police training facility, killing seven officers, while eleven paramilitary troops were slain in Khyber district.
In Bajaur district, five more people, including three civilians, lost their lives in another attack.
The Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a group ideologically aligned with the Afghan Taliban but operating independently, has intensified its insurgency against Islamabad since the Taliban’s return to power in Kabul in 2021.
Security analysts warn that the escalating violence in the tribal regions reflects the growing challenge faced by Pakistan’s military in controlling militant activity along its porous border with Afghanistan.
