Oum to headline Europe Day 2026 concert celebrating Morocco–Europe cultural ties
Morocco will host a special cultural celebration marking Europe Day 2026, featuring a concert aimed at strengthening cultural and artistic ties between the Kingdom and European Union.
The event, scheduled for May 14 at the Hassan II Park amphitheatre in Rabat, will feature acclaimed Moroccan artist Oum, known for her fusion of jazz, soul, and Mediterranean musical influences. She will be accompanied by an all-female ensemble alongside oud player Yacir Rami, creating a performance that blends traditional and contemporary sounds.
Organized by the EU Delegation to Morocco, the concert is designed not only as a musical performance but also as a symbol of cultural dialogue across the Mediterranean. It reflects the broader spirit of Europe Day, celebrated annually on May 9 in remembrance of the Schuman Declaration of 1950, which laid the foundations of the European project.
European Union Ambassador to Morocco Dimiter Tzantchev described the relationship between Morocco and the EU as “dynamic, tangible, and rooted in the daily lives of citizens on both sides of the Mediterranean.” He emphasized the importance of cultural initiatives in reinforcing mutual understanding and cooperation.
The concert, open to the public with prior registration, will take place in one of Rabat’s most emblematic cultural venues, highlighting the role of the city as a hub for international cultural exchange.
Observers note that such events contribute to strengthening soft diplomacy and deepening partnerships between Morocco and Europe through shared artistic expression.
