Morocco tourism reaches 7.7 million visitors by May
Morocco recorded 7.7 million tourist arrivals by the end of May 2026, according to official figures released by authorities responsible for the tourism sector. The result reflects a 7 percent increase compared with the same period in 2025 and confirms a sustained upward trend since the beginning of the year.
In May alone, the country received 1.7 million visitors, marking a 13 percent rise year on year. The monthly performance points to stronger inflows ahead of the summer season, supported by expanded air connectivity, broader travel offerings, and continued efforts to improve visitor experience across key destinations.
The cumulative figures for the first five months of 2026 place Morocco in a stronger competitive position within the Mediterranean tourism market. Growth in May outpaced the overall period average, indicating an acceleration in demand from both established and emerging source markets. Authorities continue to focus on expanding transport links and diversifying tourism products, ranging from urban tourism and coastal stays to cultural circuits and regional discovery routes.
Tourism revenues also reached a record 87.6 billion dirhams over the same period, underscoring the sector’s growing economic weight. The performance reflects higher visitor volumes and increased spending across accommodation, services, and travel-related activities, reinforcing tourism as a key contributor to the national economy.
