Morocco’s Rising Investment Appeal Highlighted by European Investment Bank
Morocco continues to strengthen its position as one of the most attractive destinations for international investors, driven by sustained economic reforms, macroeconomic stability, and an improving business environment. During an official visit to the Kingdom, Nadia Calviño, President of the European Investment Bank (EIB), praised Morocco’s progress in modernizing its economy and enhancing its investment climate. She highlighted that investor confidence in the country is largely supported by long-term reforms implemented under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, which have reinforced the country’s financial and economic fundamentals. According to Calviño, regulatory predictability remains a key factor in attracting foreign capital. She noted that simplified administrative procedures, improved access to financing, modern infrastructure, and investment in skills development are essential pillars supporting private sector growth and job creation. The EIB President emphasized that these reforms are already producing tangible results, translating investor confidence into industrial projects, employment opportunities, and sustainable economic development. Morocco is also seen as a strategic bridge between Europe, Africa, and the Atlantic space, further strengthening its geopolitical and economic relevance. This position enhances its role as a key partner for the European Union and financial institutions seeking to support development across the African continent. The European Investment Bank is one of Morocco’s main financial partners, having mobilized more than €12 billion since the beginning of its cooperation with the Kingdom. These funds have supported a wide range of sectors, including renewable energy, transport infrastructure, small and medium-sized enterprises, education, healthcare, as well as water and sanitation projects. The ongoing visit by Nadia Calviño, scheduled until July 1, 2026, reflects the continued strengthening of the strategic partnership between the EIB and Morocco. Both sides aim to deepen cooperation in order to support major national development projects and promote inclusive and sustainable growth.
