In a testament to the nation's burgeoning futsal prowess, Morocco has secured an impressive 6th place in the inaugural FIFA Futsal World Rankings, announced on Monday, May 6th. Amassing an impressive 1,430.55 points, the Atlas Lions have staked their claim as a force to be reckoned with on the global futsal stage.

At the pinnacle of the rankings, Brazil reigns supreme, trailed by Portugal and Spain, underscoring the sport's traditional powerhouses. However, Morocco's lofty position in the top ten is a remarkable feat, particularly in the wake of their third consecutive African Nations Cup triumph on April 21st.

Twenty-four nations will vie for global futsal supremacy at the upcoming FIFA Futsal World Cup, slated to unfold from September 14th to October 6th across the Uzbekistani cities of Tashkent, Andijan, and Bukhara. As the reigning African champions, Morocco will undoubtedly carry great ambitions into this prestigious tournament, buoyed by their impressive performances on home soil during the recent continental showpiece.

In the previous edition of the Futsal World Cup in 2021, held in Lithuania, Morocco's valiant campaign saw them progress to the quarter-finals, where they narrowly succumbed to the might of Brazil, losing 1-0 in a tightly contested encounter.

The 24 nations set to battle for futsal's ultimate prize are Afghanistan, Angola, Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cuba, Spain, France, Guatemala, Iran, Kazakhstan, Libya, Morocco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Uzbekistan, Panama, Paraguay, Portugal, Tajikistan, Thailand, Ukraine, and Venezuela.
