Morocco and Iozera Forge Pioneering Partnership for Sustainable AI Hub

Morocco has joined forces with Texas-based tech startup Iozera to establish a groundbreaking artificial intelligence (AI) hub, reshaping the global landscape of AI. This ambitious initiative, announced on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), represents a strategic partnership for constructing a state-of-the-art 386 MW (megawatt) data center and AI hub in Tetouan, a city in northern Morocco.

The joint venture, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), is designed to democratize access to advanced AI computing resources while promoting sustainability and innovation. The facility will harness Morocco's abundant renewable energy sources, operating on clean energy and aligning with the country's ambitious renewable energy goals, demonstrating Morocco's commitment to a sustainable future.

This collaboration reaches beyond Morocco and the United States, aiming to provide greater access to GPU-based processing for researchers, startups, and businesses worldwide. By lowering the barriers to these cutting-edge resources, the partnership intends to drive innovation and advance the AI industry, contributing to a global ecosystem of technological progress.

The official MOU signing ceremony, set for May 8 in Austin, Texas, will gather distinguished guests from Morocco and the international tech community. Among those attending are Dr. Ghita Mezzour, Minister of Digital Transition and Administration, and Mohcine Jazouli, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Reform, along with representatives from the Moroccan government and Taiwan's Pegatron.

To commemorate this momentous occasion, an AI-focused mixer and networking event will follow the signing ceremony, providing attendees with a chance to connect with industry leaders, including James Shue, CTO of Pegatron, and the Co-Founders of Iozera, while enjoying Moroccan cuisine.

The 386 MW data center and AI hub in Tetouan's Eureka Park is expected to be a significant milestone in the global AI landscape.
