Morocco and Gambia Forge Closer Ties through Comprehensive Cooperation Agreements

The 3rd session of the Morocco-Gambia Joint Commission, held in Dakhla this week, witnessed the signing of a set of pivotal cooperation agreements, further solidifying the bond between the two nations.

These accords cover a diverse array of domains, including customs assistance, maritime fisheries cooperation, international road transport, trade promotion, tourism, security, vocational training, academic scholarships, cultural exchange, and sports partnerships.

The discussions extended to judicial cooperation, culminating in the signing of an action plan between the Justice Ministries of both countries for the years 2024-2025.

Officials underscored that these agreements are designed to enhance bilateral relations and mutual support across multiple sectors, building upon the longstanding ties and shared priorities of the two nations.

Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita emphasized the strategic importance of this burgeoning cooperation. He highlighted the emergence of new opportunities for exchange and development resulting from these agreements.

Isatou Touray, the Gambian Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, expressed her enthusiasm for strengthened collaboration with Morocco. She acknowledged the significance of holding the commission session in Dakhla and commended Morocco's development initiatives in the region.

The signing of these comprehensive agreements marks a significant stride in the diplomatic and economic relationship between Morocco and Gambia. Officials from both sides voiced optimism for the future and pledged their commitment to sustained cooperation.
