Moroccan designers redefine tradition at Révélations 2025 in Casablanca
The 36th edition of “Révélations,” held on June 20 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Casablanca, celebrated Moroccan fashion under the theme “Made in Morocco.” Organized by Collège LaSalle Morocco, the event highlighted the fusion of cultural heritage and innovation, offering a platform for emerging designers to showcase their talent and creativity.
A celebration of Moroccan identity
Under the guidance of Bouchra BY, Vice President of LCI Education Africa and General Director of Collège LaSalle and HEM, the theme was chosen to reflect the importance of staying rooted in traditions while embracing progress. This vision inspired a captivating runway show that brought together authenticity, cultural resonance, and modernity.
The event drew prominent figures, including Isabelle Valois, Ambassador of the Canadian Embassy in Morocco; orchestra conductor Salma Elidrissi; and Morocco’s Minister of Industry and Commerce, Ryad Mezzour. Stylists, influencers, and artists also attended, creating a vibrant and collaborative atmosphere.
Adding a futuristic touch, an AI host developed by Collège LaSalle opened the event, setting the tone for an evening of creativity and originality.
Designers weave stories of heritage and innovation
Rising Moroccan designers unveiled their collections through categories such as “The New Moroccan Vision,” “Trésors de Mon Pays,” and “Sables du Sahara Marocain.” Each showcased a modern interpretation of Moroccan identity, blending traditional motifs with contemporary designs.
Designer Basma Bouamri incorporated “tbourida,” a traditional Moroccan equestrian performance, into her work. Another designer merged Moroccan modernity with Western cowboy culture, reflecting the globalized influences shaping today’s fashion.
The collections were deeply personal, offering intimate glimpses into the designers’ stories. Through colorful fabrics, technological elements, and artisanal craftsmanship, each look paid homage to Morocco’s rich culture while embracing the dynamism of the modern world.
Craftsmanship as a cornerstone of Moroccan fashion
Claude Marchand, President of LCI Education, emphasized the importance of Morocco’s artisanal traditions, stating, “We are moving away from fast fashion. Handmade craftsmanship, which represents real luxury, is something to cherish in Morocco.”
This artisanal focus positions Morocco as a beacon for sustainable fashion, paving the way for local talents to gain greater recognition on a global stage.
A heartfelt tribute to Moroccan heritage
The runway show served as a vivid tribute to Moroccan identity, blending tradition with contemporary innovation. From the intricate designs to the cultural storytelling, Révélations 2025 reaffirmed the country’s place as a hub of creativity and craftsmanship in the global fashion industry.
