Kazakhstan and Morocco: A New Era of Simplified Travel and Cultural Exchange

In a significant diplomatic development, Kazakhstan and Morocco have taken a bold step towards fostering closer ties and promoting cultural exchange by signing a landmark visa exemption agreement. This agreement, which was finalized during a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the 79th UN General Assembly in New york, marks a new chapter in the relationship between these two nations.

The meeting, attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu, and Morocco's Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, focused on the current state and future prospects of bilateral relations. The ministers discussed various spheres, including politics, trade, economics, investment, and cultural and humanitarian affairs, highlighting their commitment to strengthening these ties.

One of the key outcomes of this meeting was the signing of the Agreement on Visa Exemption for holders of national/ordinary passports. This agreement aims to facilitate the movement of citizens between Kazakhstan and Morocco, allowing them to travel more freely and fostering greater cultural and economic exchange.

Under the terms of the agreement, citizens of both countries are now exempt from visa requirements for entry, exit, transit, and temporary stays in each other's territories. This exemption is valid for stays of up to 30 calendar days within a 180-day period, provided they hold valid national/ordinary passports.

However, it is important to note that this agreement does not apply to extended stays or engagement in employment, education, or entrepreneurial activities. In such cases, citizens of either party will need to obtain the appropriate visa from the diplomatic missions or consular offices of the host country.

The agreement will come into force 30 calendar days after the last written notification is received through diplomatic channels, confirming that both parties have completed the necessary internal procedures for its implementation.

This visa exemption agreement is a significant development, particularly for the tourism and business sectors of both countries. It opens up new opportunities for cultural exchange, economic collaboration, and people-to-people connections, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation between the Kazakh and Moroccan peoples.
