Jordan Bardella distances himself from Donald Trump, criticizes Iran's regime
Jordan Bardella, president of France’s National Rally (Rassemblement National, RN), has publicly distanced himself from former U.S. President Donald Trump, describing him as "very unpredictable" and asserting that Trump has "never been [his] model." Speaking on French media, Bardella emphasized that while Trump may have been beneficial for the United States, his policies would not necessarily align with French or European interests.
Bardella also discussed U.S. military interventions, pointing out that few have successfully established democracy, citing Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya. He stressed caution regarding foreign military engagement, advocating instead for France to adopt a non-aligned foreign policy that allows dialogue with all nations while defending national interests.
On Iran, Bardella was particularly outspoken, condemning the regime’s brutal repression of protesters. He described Iran as an "Islamic dictatorship" and supported including the Revolutionary Guard on the European Union’s list of terrorist organizations. According to Bardella, France should act as a balancing power: showing solidarity with the Iranian people while maintaining firmness toward the regime.
