Israel signs new deal to expand F-35 fighter jet range
Israel’s Ministry of Defense has signed a new agreement worth $34 million with Elbit Systems to develop external fuel tanks designed for F-35 fighter jets. The project aims to improve the aircraft’s operational range and flight endurance during long-distance missions.
According to official information released on Thursday, the new fuel tanks will allow the F-35 aircraft to remain airborne for longer periods without compromising its advanced stealth capabilities. The initiative reflects Israel’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its air force and modernize military technology amid evolving regional security challenges.
The F-35 is considered one of the world’s most advanced combat aircraft, combining stealth technology, intelligence systems, and high operational flexibility. By extending the aircraft’s range, the Israeli military could enhance its strategic capabilities and operational readiness.
Elbit Systems is one of Israel’s leading defense companies and has participated in numerous military technology projects involving aviation, electronics, and advanced defense systems.
Defense analysts believe that improving the endurance of fighter aircraft has become increasingly important as modern military operations require longer missions and rapid deployment capacities across wider geographic areas.
