On monday, Rabat served as the gathering place for parliamentary leaders worldwide, hosting the 8th International Parliamentary Forum on Social Justice at Morocco's House of Councillors. Under the esteemed patronage of King Mohammed VI, this forum convened representatives from governments, international organizations, and civil society to explore the pivotal role of decent work opportunities in driving sustainable development on a global scale.

Themed "Decent Work for Sustainable Development," participants engaged in discussions aimed at formulating parliamentary strategies to enhance both the quality and quantity of fair employment opportunities. Central to these deliberations was the recognition of decent work as a cornerstone for fostering social justice and upholding the principles of welfare outlined in the royal directives of His Highness. Emphasizing the significance of productive and dignified employment, His Highness underscored its role as one of society's foremost protections.

Complementing its focus on labor issues, the House of Councillors strategically scheduled the forum to coincide with the United Nations' World Day of Social Justice on February 20th. This timing provided attendees with a platform to shed light on the realities of working conditions in Morocco and to contemplate the associated challenges, particularly regarding the pivotal role of decent work in advancing the objectives outlined in Morocco's National Strategy for Sustainable Development, as articulated in the National Charter for Environment and Sustainable Progress.

Representatives hailing from various governmental levels, national agencies, international bodies such as the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), as well as regional councils, experts, and academics, convened to collectively explore parliamentary solutions aimed at ensuring employment dignity worldwide. Recognizing it as a catalyst for fostering equitable and environmentally conscious economic growth, they sought to address the imperative of decent work in achieving sustainable development goals.
