IndiGo appoints former Air India Express CEO as chief strategy officer
IndiGo has appointed Aloke Singh, former CEO of Air India Express, as its new chief strategy officer. Singh will join the airline on April 6, following the recent departure of CEO Pieter Elbers.
IndiGo holds approximately 65% of the domestic market in India, the world's fastest-growing aviation market. The airline faced a major operational crisis in December, cancelling 4,500 flights, leading regulators to criticize the previous CEO for insufficient oversight and crisis management.
Singh is expected to report directly to co-founder and managing director Rahul Bhatia, who is currently leading the airline in an interim capacity. Analysts note that the appointment signals IndiGo’s focus on strengthening strategic planning and operational resilience as the airline navigates a competitive market.
