Heatwave and thunderstorms expected across morocco from tuesday to friday

A severe heatwave accompanied by thunderstorms is expected to affect several regions of Morocco from Tuesday through Friday, according to an alert issued by the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM).

Temperatures are forecasted to soar between 44°C and 47°C in areas such as Errachidia, Zagora, Taroudant, Tata, Assa-Zag, Es-Semara, Oued Eddahab, and Aousserd. The weather alert is set at an orange vigilance level, indicating potentially dangerous conditions that require public caution.

In addition, other provinces like Beni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Meknès, Khénifra, Fès, and Marrakech will experience slightly lower but still intense heat ranging from 40°C to 44°C, from Tuesday to Thursday.

Meteorologists and climate experts urge the population, especially vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children, and individuals with chronic illnesses, to take precautionary measures. This includes staying hydrated, avoiding direct sun exposure, and limiting physical activity during peak heat hours.

Heavy thunderstorms are also forecasted for Tuesday afternoon between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. in regions including Assa-Zag, Es-Semara, Guelmim, and Tan-Tan. These may include localized hail and strong wind gusts, increasing the risk of flash floods and infrastructure damage.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation and advise residents to follow official updates and weather alerts to ensure their safety.
