Four decapitated bodies found inside abandoned vehicle near regional parliament in Mexico
Authorities in southern Mexico have discovered four decapitated bodies inside an abandoned vehicle near the regional parliament building in Chilpancingo, the capital of the state of Guerrero.
The grisly discovery has once again highlighted the persistent wave of violence affecting the region, which has long been a battleground for rival criminal organizations competing for control of drug trafficking routes.
Security forces reported that the bodies were found wrapped in black plastic bags inside the vehicle, which had been left behind near the government complex. Investigations are ongoing, and officials have not yet released the identities of the victims.
The state of Guerrero, home to the tourist city of Acapulco, has been severely affected by cartel-related violence. Clashes between groups such as the La Sierra cartel and the Los Ardillos cartel have intensified in recent years, contributing to instability across rural and urban areas.
Authorities also reported that, just weeks earlier, an indigenous community was forced to flee its land following drone attacks attributed to armed criminal groups, underscoring the growing militarization of cartel conflicts in the region.
The latest incident adds to growing concerns over security in Guerrero, where organized crime continues to challenge state authority despite ongoing military and police operations.
