Fès-Gate Awards: Celebrating Morocco's Visionaries on 25th Anniversary of King Mohammed VI's Reign
The historic city of Fès played host to a prestigious ceremony on Thursday, marking a dual celebration of Morocco's progress and potential. The Bouabate-Fès Association orchestrated the 2024 Fès-Gate Awards, coinciding with both the 25th anniversary of His Majesty King Mohammed VI's ascension to the throne and Morocco's National Women's Day on October 10.
This special edition, themed "Vision of a King," recognized twelve exceptional figures who have significantly contributed to Morocco's development and international standing. The diverse group of honorees represented fields ranging from agriculture and energy to culture and artificial intelligence.
Among the distinguished recipients were Josefa Leonel Correa Sacko, African Union commissioner for Agriculture, Rural Development, Blue Economy, and Sustainable Environment; Amina Benkhadra, director general of the National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines; and Bahija Simou, director of the Royal Archives.
The awards also celebrated innovators in education and technology, including Ahmed Boukous, rector of the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture, and Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, executive president of the International Center for Artificial Intelligence of Morocco at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University.
In an exclusive interview, El Fallah Seghrouchni expressed her gratitude, stating, "I feel especially honored because this recognition comes from the association, and we are also celebrating International Women's Day on October 10 and the 25th anniversary of His Majesty King Mohammed VI's vision."
The business sector was well-represented by honorees such as Naoual Ben Amar, director general of Label Vie Group, who emphasized the importance of opening doors for women in Morocco. "It represents recognition for the Moroccan woman I stand for and acknowledges the remarkable work done by this magnificent association," Ben Amar remarked.
Ahmed Boukous praised the efforts of the Bouabate-Fès Association, highlighting the organization's commitment to regional development and women's empowerment. Similarly, Josefa Leonel Correa Sacko expressed her appreciation for the recognition of her work in agriculture and environmental sectors at the African Union.
The Fès-Gate awards serve as a testament to Morocco's progress in various fields, particularly in advancing women's roles across different sectors. By honoring these exceptional individuals, the Bouabate-Fès Association not only celebrates past achievements but also sets a inspiring precedent for future generations of Moroccan leaders and innovators.
As Morocco continues to evolve under King Mohammed VI's leadership, events like the Fès-Gate Awards showcase the nation's commitment to recognizing excellence, fostering development, and promoting gender equality. This celebration of visionaries across diverse fields reflects Morocco's multifaceted approach to progress, blending tradition with innovation in its journey towards a more prosperous and inclusive future.
