Father killed by crocodile in South Sulawesi, Indonesia

A tragic incident occurred in South Sulawesi, Indonesia, as a father of four lost his life after being attacked by a crocodile while swimming in a river. Around 6 p.m., the reptile reportedly bit the man’s leg and dragged him under the water, witnessed helplessly by nearby villagers.

Several people jumped into the river attempting to save the man, but their efforts were unsuccessful, according to footage released by media outlet ViralPress.

After several hours of searching, authorities located the victim’s body approximately 1.5 kilometers from the site of the attack, and his family was able to recover his remains.

According to Le Mag des Animaux, an estimated 170 deaths occur annually due to crocodile attacks. The magazine emphasizes that crocodiles do not actively hunt humans for food. Last December, another fatal crocodile attack occurred in Indonesia, claiming the life of a woman in a palm plantation.

This tragic event highlights the dangers posed by wildlife in areas where humans and crocodiles share natural habitats.
