On Wednesday, political parties continued presenting their proposals to the committee responsible for revising the Family Code, seeking input on the ongoing reforms under consideration.

The delegation of the Justice and Development Party (PJD), led by parliamentary leader Idriss Azami Al Idrissi, made it clear that the PJD unequivocally rejects equality in inheritance, the abolition of "ta'sib," marriage to non-Muslims, and several other issues that contradict "definitive texts."

Al Idrissi, the party leader, expressed concern about various discussions, extending beyond those related to the Family Code. These concerns encompassed the decriminalization of "so-called consensual relationships" and the provision of abortion rights "in the name of bodily autonomy."

"We reject these issues because, despite not being directly related to the family, they impact and are influenced by it," stated Al Idrissi.

The party's proposed amendments, as per the spokesperson, primarily aim to streamline divorce procedures and facilitate marriage. This approach is driven by the alarming rate of family breakdown and its societal repercussions.
