The Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) announced on Monday the appointment of Moroccan coach Adil Ramzi, 46, as the new coach for the Netherlands Under-18 national team. This strategic move aims to retain young Dutch-Moroccan talent within its ranks.

Ramzi, who previously led Wydad AC, will take over from Dutch coach Mischa Visser on July 1 and will prepare the team for upcoming European competitions. Proud of the confidence placed in him, Ramzi is committed to developing a generation of talented players who will leave their mark on the Netherlands Under-18 team.

Nigel de Jong, General Director of the KNVB, praised Ramzi's personality, describing him as a valuable asset to the Dutch national teams. This appointment is a bold step by the Netherlands to address the recurring exodus of its young talents to the Moroccan national team, known as the "Lions of the Atlas."

By leveraging Ramzi's strong connections with players' families of Moroccan descent, Dutch football hopes to keep its young stars and prevent them from joining Morocco in the future.

A versatile player who has played for several European clubs, Ramzi later took on the role of assistant coach before briefly serving as the head coach of Wydad AC this season. His unique journey now makes him a valuable asset for the KNVB in its quest to cultivate emerging talent.
