CAF Cup: USM Alger arrives in Morocco This Friday to face RS Berkane
A few hours after the verdict from the Confederation of African Football granting a 3-0 victory on paper to RS Berkane against the Union Sportive de la Médina d'Alger in the first leg of the CAF Cup. Following the jersey issue of the Oriental club, the president of the Algerian club, Kamal Hassina, assured the media in his country that his team would arrive in Morocco this Friday for the second leg of the semi-final. However, the head of the Algerian club did not specify whether his team would play the match.
The Confederation of African Football sanctioned USM Alger and granted a 3-0 victory on paper for RS Berkane in the first leg of the CAF Cup semi-final because of the decision of Algerian authorities to seize the equipment of the Moroccan club due to the presence of the Kingdom's map on the team's jersey. USM Alger arrives in Morocco this Friday for the second leg of the semi-final, which has been maintained as scheduled by CAF.
The president of the Algerian club, Kamal Hassina, assured the media in his country on Wednesday that his team would arrive in Morocco on Friday aboard a special Egypt Air flight. "We have taken note of CAF's decision with a 3-0 defeat on paper in the first leg of the Confederation Cup semi-final against RS Berkane. We are ready to travel to Morocco for the second leg, and we will go there on Friday aboard a special Egypt Air flight. We will assess whether the conditions are conducive for us to play the match," the Algerian official said, without clearly stating whether his team would play against a Berkane team that will likely wear the same jersey as in the first leg.
